About Us
The Canning Agricultural, Horticultural and Recreational Society (Inc) (CAHRS) was founded in 1909 with Shows having been run on the same grounds as today since 1894. In 2004 the Cannington Exhibition Centre was opened after major landscaping and paving projects.

The Society is a not for profit organisation based in Cannington which is managed by a voluntary committee. The Committee appoints a Executive Officer who is a paid employee responsible for the day-to-day management. In addition, there are a number of volunteers who provide their time, skill and knowledge.

The Society is a supporter of Community events with the largest being the Annual Canning Show, seeing on average 11,000 people enjoy the attractions.
Others include:

  • The Canning Art Award, sponsored & held by the Society.
  • Free vocational classes for youth which include Flower Arranging.
  • Discounted hall hire rates for Community incorporated organisation

Membership
Any person who is associated with one or other of the recreational, cultural or community activities which is conducted on the premises of the Society may make application to become a Member. The annual subscription for 2009 is $15.00 pa for adults or $7.50 pa for juniors (17yrs & under) . This includes automatic posting of show schedules, complimentary pass to the Canning Show for the Member and their guest and invitations to any of the Society's social functions.

The Showgrounds and Exhibition Centre is located on the corner of Albany Highway and Station Street in Cannington.

Administration is open Monday 8:30am to 10:30am.
Tuesday to Thursday 9:00am to 12:30pm
